May Day Bank Holiday Social - Florida Scramble Rules

A Florida Scramble begins the same way as a regular scramble - all golfers play a tee shot on each hole. After the team members each hit a drive, the best of those shots is chosen, and the position is marked with a tee peg (not nearer the hole).

NOTE: In a team of four players the team MUST USE at least 4 of each players tee shots - in a team of three players the team MUST USE at least 3 of each players tee shots - mark where tee shots are taken on the card.

The golfer whose shot is selected skips, or sits out, the next shot - this continues until the ball is holed out. The remaining players then play within 15cm (6 inches) of the tee peg, not nearer the hole, in any order.

Note: A ball may be placed on the fairway/closely mown area, but must be dropped from any other area, including Penalty Areas (except where local rules are in place), rough, etc.

The above method of play is followed until the green is reached.

On the green the same method applies. The ball chosen is marked, with the player whose shot is selected sits out and the remaining players putt from that spot in any order. Players mark their ball after putting with play continuing the same way from each position until the ball is holed.

If a player putts and misses and then inadvertently knocks the ball into the hole, that score counts.

The gross score for each hole should be marked on the score card against the player whose tee shot was used, e.g. A, B, C or Marker.

Total up your score at the end of the round and subtract the handicap allowance which will be on a sheet posted on the starters hut.

Please hand the completed and signed scorecard to the committee member handling scoring on the day.

The Team with the lowest score wins.

Example of play:
On the first hole players A, B, C & D hit their tee shots.
Player B’s tee shot is selected as it’s in the fairway, so only players A, C & D may play the second shot.
Player C’s shot is then selected as the best shot, because it’s on the green; so, player C may not take the next shot - players A, B & D hit their putts.
They all miss but player D’s putt is chosen as it’s the nearest to the hole, so player D may not putt it in – only players A, B & C may putt.

Team Handicap allowances:
Player A: 20%/ B: 15%/ C: 10%/ D: 5% of PLAYING HANDICAP (Player A Lowest handicap to Player D highest) Each player must take four drives
