We had a successful Bank Holiday Social with another great turnout of 70 players which was only marred by the fact that players were unable to purchase any food once they had finished their round, due to the kitchen being closed on Bank Holiday Monday. However, everyone was in good spirits and seemed to enjoy the format - so another one to include next year!
There was actually a "tie" in the 50/50 Guess where Paul's final approach shot would be on the 16th - with the pot being shared between Sue Ballard and Brian Gowers; Paul's shot was 15 on and 1 from the left; thank you Paul for taking the time to work that out for us.
Nearest the Pin winners on the 5th Hole were:
Pat Ashby for the Ladies and Dan Scott for the Gents - each taking home a bottle of wine.
Nearest the Pin winners on the 11th Hole were:
Sue Ballard for the Ladies and Drew Swanson for the Gents - a particularly wonderful achievement as 11 year old Drew beat all the fellas - well done sir! Sue garnered a bottle of wine while Drew won a sleeve of balls.
Eight Men's and Ten Mixed teams competed in this Traffic Light Waltz format which saw some great scoring and not too much between all the teams.
First and Second place Men's teams were tied on 89 points, so on countback 1st Place Prize goes to Mark Pidgeley, Clifford Peace, Graham Newman and Michael Baker (with 47 points on the back 9) 2nd Place Steve Denson, Paul Kelleher, Justin Crissell and Malcolm Payne (with 44 points on the back 9). Honorable 3rd Place mention goes to our seniors supporting the Bank Holiday Social with 87 points Vic Little, Chas Gregg, John Manser and Tony Bibbey.
Mixed team winners with an outstanding score of 90 points is Adrian Binns, Chris Sore, Verity Rosewarne and Rodger Underwood. 2nd Place Prize goes to John & Martine Adamson and Stephen Graham with 89 Points - as a three person team there was a blind draw made to make up their fourth player, but alas, they did not improve their team score! Missing out on the prizes by just 1 point, in 3rd Place was Jaclyn Lee, Jim Duigan, Linda and Tim Gleed.
A big thank you to Barry and Gill Larcombe and Ben Blackaby who donated the nearest the pin prizes - very kind. Also a huge thank you to Sheila Cook and Adrian Binns for being there to take team photos and getting teams to the first tee in plenty of time, which kept Peter Lawrence our starter for today very happy. Peter was also a great help with keeping the tee running smoothly and getting nearest the pins organised. Richard and Denise Earl will be sorting out the vouchers for prizes which will be emailed to team winners and 50/50 guessing game winners.
Thank you to everyone who competed in this fun Social - we will keep everyone updated as to when the next event is scheduled.
