This was the first time in the last three years that the Essex Ladies & Seniors have held their bi-annual charity day due to the recent Covid restrictions. It was held in aid of our annual charity, Little Haven Hospice.
On a slightly overcast, yet dry day, this charity day attracted a mix of 88 members and guests. It was a shotgun start, with several side comps, these were Chipping and Putting comps.
The winner of the chipping was Mike Yardley. Winner of the putting comp. was Tim Gleed. Winner of NTP was Martine Adamson. Winner of nearest the line was Ian Pike.
In the main comp. in 3rd place with a score of 47 stableford points, on count back was Stewart Hicks & Phil Maserk.
In 2nd place also with a score of 47 points was Verity Rosewarne & Rodger Underwood.
The winning pair, on the day with the fantastic score of 51 points was Carole & Robin Tickner.
Well played everybody.
The real winner on the day was our Captains selected charity, Little Haven Hospice.
A big thank you to all the sponsors who kindly donated either money or vouchers. There were too many to list individually, see the poster for more detail.
These donations were used as either prizes in the comps, the raffle or an auction.
A big thank you to our relatively new GM, Barry Careford and his whole team at The Essex without whom the day would not be possible.
The auction raised just over £1,550. The other activities on the day: raffle, side comps & half way house refreshments raised just over £1,600. This means the grand total of just over £3150 will go towards this years selected charity.
Cadman Crain Hire Ltd were the main sponsor on the day and their contribution towards the charity day was a further £2,000 so this means we raised a total of £5,150 on the day, which all goes to Little Havens Hospice.
I cannot close this report without thanking Robin Tickner who was the main organiser and driver of the event, not to mention his band of helpers from within the ladies and senior's sections. Well done ladies and guys.
