A new event on the calendar: The Generation Game is open to all members.

An 18-hole two-person modified best ball, Shamble - Teams to consist of two-players who are related by generation, such as a grandparent and grandchild, parent and child, or aunt/uncle and niece/nephew. It is set up as an individual competition allowing players to enter themselves and one other. It will be converted to a pairs team event on the day.

At least one player must be a member of The Essex, their partner can be a guest but the applicable green fee will need to be paid at golf reception on the day. Player's entry fees are paid upon entry to the competition.

Format: An 18-hole two-person modified best ball, Shamble. 100% handicap allowance. Each player hits a tee shot, the team selects the best of the two shots and each player plays their ball from that point until the ball is holed. The best stableford score of the two is the team score for the hole. A minimum of 6 tee shots from each player must be used.

Note: Tees will be assigned by committee based on a combination of age, ability, and handicap. A system of progressive tees, where younger or less experienced players start on more forward tees and more advanced players will progress to longer tees, will be used.

Players may play on both days but must have different, related partner.

Please arrive at the first tee at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time to allow time to enter supplementary competitions and for team photos to be taken. Prizes for best gross and nett team together with nearest the pins and other fun games.
